The Kurdish Department has been opened since 2009. Originally affiliated with the College of Education of Koya University, this department accepted 41 students. After the establishment of the University of Raparin in 2011, this department became one of the departments of the School of Basic Education and the first cycle graduated in the academic year 2012-13. Graduated students acquire a bachelor’s degree in Kurdish Language and Literature and are familiarized with educational methodology and psychology. This can help them gain a position as a teacher at primary and secondary schools in the Kurdistan Government’s Ministry of Education.
